  • Saturday Morning

It is Saturday morning and we are off to Disney World... until we woke up Rebekah. She was covered with hives that are getting worse. So, as Norman and the other girls left for a magical day, Rebekah and I went to the Emergency Room. By 9:30 in the morning, I have been up for 4 hours, spent 2 1/2 hours in the emergency room and got 2 prescriptions filled. I will be off to bed for a nap very soon. As for Rebekah, between the benadryl, vistaril, and shot of steroids, she will be sleeping the rest of the morning. She can no longer take the antibiotic she just finished as she is now officially allergic to it.

This afternoon will be a nice, mother-daughter movie day!

  • My Love-Hate Relationship

Wal-Mart...The store that has almost everything. I shop at Wal-Mart probably weekly, but I hate it. .  Everyone else also shops at Wal-Mart and it is crowded. Today, I went fairly late in the evening, when little kids should be in bed, right? But no, moms and dads bring out their tired children and expect them to sit quietly in the shopping cart. They take them past the toys and candy telling them "no" repeatedly. What is a tired child going to do? Cry. Loudly. Couldn't dad have stayed home? Could the Wal-mart trip not have waited until tomorrow after naptime

Then there are the prices. Never to be found on the shelf that the item is on. They have these lovely price scanners throughout the store, but it never fails, they are either broken, or across the store. Tonight, I wanted to know the price of a plastic container. I looked for the price, then I looked for a scanner. Found one and only 1 aisle over! It wasn't working. Saw another one, walked several more aisles, it wasn't working either. By this time, I am half-way through the store. As I get almost back to my cart, I saw a friendly Wal-Mart employee and asked "Can you tell me where a WORKING price scanner is?" She gladly helped me. She took me past the non-working scanners (as I told her they were not working), past the jewelry department, past the check out lanes, past customer service and to another friendly Wal-Mart worker with a price scanner. Then I walked back to my cart (did I mention the melting butter in my cart?). No, I didn't get the container after all of that.

Why are there so many check-out lanes? It is in case too many break down? They certainly aren't to decrease the long lines of customers with crying children. So, I stand in line listening to the crying children and customers loudly talking in some other language on their cell phones while I wait patiently in line.

The parking lot. I truly wanted to leave after I emptied my cart. But I had to wait for yet another friendly Wal-Mart worker who took a very long line of shopping carts right behind my vehicle.

There is a Target opening up near my house at the end of the month. I can't wait!

In the past, I have not been good about keeping up with my Xanga. I can't make promises, but I will try to be a little better.

The moving company came in with a fury yesterday. We have been reduced to 218 boxes. They backed some funny things, like Norman's mouthwash and all of our alarm clocks. My father-in-law provided us a wake up call this morning. Of course, the alarm clock that got turned on when it was packed woke us up at 4:10 this morning and rang for 2 hours before the battery died. It was buried in a box somewhere in our bedroom!

I am having a lot of "lasts" this week and it is very difficult. I cooked my last meal in our house, I went to church for the last time, the girls go to school for their last day today...

My thesis was printed and overnighted to my professor yesterday. I am officially done!Yippee!
